The Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez assured this Wednesday that the Mexican Grand Prix, to be held this Sunday, October 29 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, “is the most important of the season” for him.

“Mexico is my most important weekend of the season and I can hardly wait for my home race to start,” explained “Checo”, a 33-year-old driver for the Red Bull Formula 1 team and teammate of the current champion of the category, the Dutch Max Verstappen.

“The support I received last weekend in Austin (Texas, USA) was already crazy; so I can’t even imagine what will happen in Mexico. It’s going to be something very special,” said Pérez in statements reported by EFE.

The man from Guadalajara finished fourth last Sunday in the United States GP and is second in a championship that his teammate Verstappen already mathematically secured three weekends ago.

With six victories and 34 podiums in Formula One, he is the best Mexican driver in all of history.

“Checo” leads the seven-time English world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) by 39 points, who is third; and in 57 the Spanish double world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who occupies fourth place overall.

“I want Mexico to support the entire Red Bull team, not just me,” wished ‘Checo’ Pérez with a view to ‘his’ Grand Prix.
