Forward Jaime Jáquez Jr. made his official NBA debut this Wednesday during his team’s Miami Heat 103-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons to become the sixth player in Mexican history to play in the best basketball in the world.
Despite it being the start of the season, Jáquez Jr. had the opportunity to participate in 13 minutes of action, most of them in the fourth quarter when the Heat had a difference of up to 19 points over the Pistons.
In that action, the Mexican team was able to hit the three shots they made on the board, to finish with six points, two assists and two rebounds.
The first of these baskets was scored by Jáquez Jr. just in the first quarter to equalize his team’s actions a few seconds before the end of the first quarter.
Although Jáquez’s performance stood out for his effectiveness and speed in front of the basket, one play in particular left all the spotlight on the Hispanic when he tried to block Jalen Duren but ended up smashing his face into the court.
After the play, his teammates went to help him stand up, although he looked a little dizzy due to the magnitude of the blow.
Jáquez Jr.’s next game in the NBA will be next Friday, October 27, against the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden in Massachusetts, where he will have the opportunity to continue demonstrating his talent under the hoop.
