The NY Red Bulls managed to win the MLS Eastern Conference Wild Card this Tuesday after overwhelmingly beating Charlotte FC 5-2, so they will now face the MLS Supporters’ Shield champion, FC Cincinnati, who led the general table.
The performance of the great star of the match, the Brazilian Elias Manoel, who contributed three goals to the Red Bulls cause was enough to achieve the long-awaited victory in which Jhon Tolkin and Tom Barlow also contributed with scores.
In addition to Manoel, Tolkin also confirmed his good scoring moment by scoring for the second consecutive game after the great goal achieved against Nashville.
Colombian Kerwin Vargas and Patrick Agyemang scored for Charlotte, who said goodbye to their debut in the MLS postseason at the first opportunity.
For their part, the Red Bulls have a record of 14 consecutive seasons playing in the playoffs of the North American league.
This year’s MLS final group comes with important new features, such as the introduction of the wild card round with which Red Bulls qualified or the upcoming first round of the playoff that will be played in the best of three games.
The first and third games – this one only if necessary – will be played in the stadium of the team that obtained the most points in the regular season and there will be no overtime: if a duel ends in a tie, penalties will dictate the sentence.
