The end of last NFL season brought with it the retirement of Tom Brady, who for some is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the history of sports, and just less than a year after announcing the end of his career, the The former player believes that there will not be another player who will surpass the entire legacy he left in his 23 seasons.
Brady finished with seven Super Bowls and three MVP awards under his belt. Achievements and numbers that seem difficult to achieve and the former player himself is clear about it. And recently on the podcast Let’s Go! he let it be known.
“When I look at my career, I was able to excel every year, basically, in every game. I only missed a couple of games. Other than that, I showed up every week. Not all games were perfect, but they were all pretty good. And most of the time I never put my team in a position to lose,” Brady analyzed his NFL career.
Furthermore, the 45-year-old former player commented that currently almost no one could maintain a pace like the one he had during those 23 years. “There are very few guys like that that I follow again and again. And I think, unfortunately, the way the games are going, guys run the ball a lot more, which makes their career shorter,” he commented.
“So I don’t know who can play 21 years, I really don’t know. I know what it took, and a lot, and I’m sure some people have the ambition to try. But there are many things that have to go your way,” he closed.
Brady sees Patrick Mahomes as the only one capable
However, the experienced quarterback also launched a name, as the only one he sees with the talent and ability to do interesting things and get closer to the legacy that he himself left during more than two decades in the NFL and that is the player of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes.
“I think when I look at the guys in professional football, Patrick Mahomes is the one that really stands out,” Brady said. He’s done a great job since he really took over. And he has a great coach, just as I was lucky, so was he, someone who helps you and gives you a simple slice of cake when things are going well and he knows how to help you when things are not going well,” Brady concluded.
