The Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida was the scene of the historic victory of the Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano by unanimous decision over the Brazilian Danila Ramos.
Serrano successfully defended her women’s featherweight championships of the International Federation, World Organization and World Boxing Association in a fight that will go down in history for being the first fight in the history of women’s boxing to be contested in 12 rounds of 3 minutes each. one.
Women usually fight 10 rounds of 2 minutes each.
This is not the first time that a women’s fight has 3-minute rounds, Seniesa Estrada defeated Marlen Esparza with those rules in 2019, but the fight was scheduled for 10 rounds.
Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano dominated the ring from the first bell and overwhelmed Danila Ramos with her blows throughout the fight on the way to receiving identical scores 120-108 to take the victory by a wide unanimous decision.
With her victory, Amanda Serrano improved to a record of 46-2-1 with 30 knockouts, her last loss coming to Katie Taylor via split decision when she challenged her for her lightweight titles, two divisions above, on April 30, 2022. .
For his part, Danila Ramos stagnated at 12-4 and saw the end of a four-match winning streak.
“This was a historic night in which we chose to fight three-minute rounds and if necessary I would have fought 15. Thank you all,” Serrano said.
