The parents of soccer player Luis Díaz were kidnapped on the afternoon of Saturday, October 28 in La Guajira, Colombia, although at night they learned that Cilenis Marulanda, the player’s mother, was released, while the whereabouts of Luis Manuel Díaz remain unknown. , along with their captors.
The President of the Republic himself, Gustavo Petro, confirmed that Mrs. Cilenis is free. “In operation padlock in Barrancas, Luis Diaz’s mother has been rescued, we are still searching for the father,” he wrote on social networks.
The director of the Police, General William Salamanca, contacted the mother of the Colombian National Team player to check on his state of health, after spending a reasonable amount of time in the hands of his captors.
General Salamanca greeted her, identifying himself with his name and position and, later, he gave the order to a uniformed man who was on the other side of the communication to place the radio on Mrs. Cilenis, “please, so that she can listen.” said the officer.
“We are pleased that you are free again, madam,” said General Salamanca, who received the report that Díaz’s mother is in good health. In addition, he congratulated the uniformed officers for the operation: “I congratulate them for the reaction of all the police officers dedicated to the cause.”
Likewise, he called attention not to let his guard down and seek the release of Luis Díaz’s father. “Let’s continue searching for the soccer player’s father, we already have the mother.”
The search for the father continues
The kidnapping of the player’s parents caused the public force to deploy an entire military and police operation in La Guajira to locate them.
Surveillance police, military personnel who were in rural areas, members of the Transit Police and the Tax and Customs Police participated in the search operations.
Salamanca, from Bogotá, gave special instructions on the operations, after informing that he would travel to La Guajira to take charge of the situation.
“The Traffic Police, the Tax and Customs Police, the Surveillance Police are committed from now on to carrying out checkpoints and identification of people, on motorcycles, in private and public service vehicles, but an offensive, like The Police know how to do it when complexities like these arise,” said General Salamanca.
