After the sudden departure of Frenchman Ferland Mendy in the 50th minute of the Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona due to muscle overload, it was his compatriot Aurélien Tchouameni who ended up in the infirmary after the white team’s 2-1 victory.
As reported by the Madrid club itself in a statement, Tchouameni was “diagnosed with an incomplete stress fracture in the second metatarsal of the left foot.”
Although the 23-year-old midfielder completed the match against Barcelona, the club announced his injury and clarified that the evolution of the injury will continue. According to the newspaper AS, this fracture would imply a loss of between six and eight weeks.
Although he will not need surgical intervention, AS reported that the treatment will be done through impact sports rest, using electromagnetic field technology and an inductive system.
Tchouameni’s injury means a very important loss for Merengue coach Carlo Ancelotti, as the player had established himself as a fundamental piece in Madrid’s tactical scheme.
In principle, Tchouameni will miss the match against Rayo Vallecano next Sunday, November 5, and the match against Braga at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday, November 8 at the beginning of the second round of the Champions League. The midfielder, according to AS, would be available for the match against Real Betis on December 10.
In his absence, control of the midfield will be shared between German Toni Kroos and Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga, who had a sensational game against Barcelona after coming off the bench.
