The Argentine goalkeeper, Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, won the fourth edition of the Lev Yashin Trophy for the Best Goalkeeper of 2023 at the 67th edition of the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Paris gala.

The choice of Martínez could be somewhat controversial due to everything his gestures generated after beating France and specifically against Mbappé. It is for this reason that the Argentine received some boos when they focused on the Frenchman in the audience, something for which Drogba stopped the gala and asked for respect.

“They have to calm down the French boos, merci,” said the Ivorian.

“Having him here is a surprise. The fat man follows me everywhere,” she said with a broken voice when she met his father on stage, which the organization had hidden behind the curtain.

And he added: “I want to thank my teammates on the National Team, the Aston Villa coaching staff, for me the important thing is to win as a group and my family; I have two beautiful children at home, my brothers.”

For many it has been a surprise that Emiliano Martínez, the ‘Dibu’, has won this award, since he was competing with big names who seemed to start as favorites in many pools.

The rest of the candidates were the Moroccan from Al Hilal Yasin Bono, Thibaut Courtois, the Brazilian from Manchester City Ederson, the Croatian from Fenerbache Dominik Livakovic, the French from Milan Mike Maignan, the Cameroonian from Manchester United André Onana, the English from Arsenal Aaron Ramsdale, the Frenchman from Lens Brice Samba and the German from Barcelona Marc-André Ter Stegen.

Jude Bellingham wins the Kopa trophy

Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid footballer, was awarded the Kopa 2023 Trophy for best player under 21 years of age at the Ballon d’Or gala, an award given by the prestigious France Football magazine.

The midfielder, who moved to Merengue in June of this year for a sum of $103 million dollars, has been shining and being decisive with his team this season, although the award is also awarded for what he did with Borussia Dortmund last season, where He competed in the Bundesliga and was recognized as the best player in the competition.

Bellingham had also already competed for recognition in 2021, when he finished second behind Pedri.
