In the midst of the fight for world number one, the first two players on the circuit, the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, shared training this Sunday, at the Paris Bercy facilities, on the eve of the start of the last Masters 1000 of the season .
The top two seeds in the tournament shared the court and exchanged blows in the hours before the event got underway. Djokovic, number one seed and six-time champion at the Paris Masters 1000, will debut in the second leg of the tournament against the winner of the clash between his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic and the Argentine Tomás Martín Etcheverry.
Alcaraz, second favorite, faces his third appearance in the tournament. In 2021 he reached the round of 16 and last year, he reached the quarterfinals where he lost to the Danish Holger Rune.
On this occasion, the Murcian will face in his debut the winner of the first round match between the local Alexandre Muller, a guest of the organization, and the Russian from the previous phase Roma Safiullin.
“I am in paris. Excellent practice with Djokovic today! Let’s go!“, indicated on social networks the Spanish player who became the youngest world number one in history a year ago. Now, 500 points behind the Serbian, he can still finish the course at the top of the circuit.
The training took place just one day before Djokovic attended the Ballon d’Or gala as a guest and even presented one of the award categories.
