The renowned actress Cate Blanchett has added another victory to her list: she will be able to build a bank of solar panels within her large property in Sussex, a county in the south of England.
This is news because the 54-year-old actress spent a year in a legal battle against local council officials, remembering that to make any changes you must first obtain permission from the authorities.
Officials alleged that the construction of the solar panel bank posed a threat to the area that is classified as a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and because it is also an amber impact zone.
It was mainly believed that the installation was going to be too large and could become a visual distraction, which would not even match the surrounding nature.
Although Blanchett already obtained permission, not everything went as she wanted. To get out of this unpleasant struggle, the actress and her husband, playwright Andrew Upton, decided to make some changes to the original plans.
According to ‘The Sun’, among the changes they agreed to make is the reduction of its height and location. It was originally intended to be installed on part of the agricultural field, but now it will be installed on a part of the garden that the 13-acre property has.
In addition, the couple has had to agree to put up a solid screen as an acoustic barrier, since the authorities also ruled that the new bank of solar panels will represent an acoustic impact on the area.
As a defense, Blanchett and his team argue that the new facility will generate power to the seven-bedroom main house and the rest of the structures. In turn this would “contribute to the UK’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions”.
In addition to the seven bedrooms, the main house has several bathrooms, a foyer, a living room, a great room, a dining room, a kitchen, a laundry room, and other amenities.
Outside there are extensive green areas with multiple uses, but you can highlight its terrace, pool, spa area, dining room and other ideal spaces to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
