Manchester United legend Gary Neville was harsh with his words about the current situation of the club where he trained as a footballer after Sunday’s 0-3 loss against Manchester City.
Neville, who has been a commentator on the British network Sky Sports for some time, harshly criticized the club’s structure and that it is a “cemetery of footballers.”
“Every manager that comes to Manchester United, we start to think that there is a problem with him at some point. When we think about players that we buy for 50, 60 or 70 million, even that other teams have wanted but have opted for United, this ends up being a cemetery for them,” said Neville after Dery in Manchester.
Neville even claimed that the “Class of 92”, which included David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and himself, would not work in this context either: No matter how talented that group was, if we arrived in this environment, we would have failed, as well “I don’t blame these players,” said the former player.
“There is a culture of toxicity and negativity around the club that does not go away. Erik Ten Hag is a fantastic coach, we can’t doubt that. José Mourinho is a great coach, we cannot deny that either. What you have to think about is why they don’t succeed in this club. “That’s the question,” added the former “Red Devils” winger.
United, which has not won the Premier League in 10 years, is eighth in the tournament with 15 points, 11 away from the leader, Tottenham Hotspur.
In the Champions League, United has two defeats and only one victory, against Copenhagen, in the first three days.
