This Monday the sponsorship agreement was announced between The NBA, the WNBA and the United States Basketball Federation with ‘Skims’, an underwear brand of which businesswoman and television star Kim Kardashian is a co-owner.
Skims will be “the official intimate apparel sponsor of the NBA,” the American basketball league reported in a statement.
Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA, said that Skims “has quickly become one of the most influential brands on a cultural level” and expressed his desire to provide customers with “new offers and ‘premium’ products during the collaboration.”
This collaboration agreement was announced after, on October 26, Skims launched three men’s intimate apparel collections, with Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous Alexander as the image.
The NBA, WNBA and the United States Basketball Federation will offer a first-class showcase to promote Kardashian’s brand, including the new in-season tournament of the American men’s league, as well as the All Star next February in Indianapolis.
Kim Kardashian happy about the agreement
Kim Kardashian, co-founder and creative director of SKIMS, was satisfied with the agreement reached, ready to promote everything related to the WNBA.
“We are thrilled to partner with the WNBA and excite fans and female athletes through featured events, brand activations, media and WNBA campaigns. We look forward to working together to amplify our joint values of women’s empowerment and individual confidence,” she said.
For her part, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said: “WNBA athletes set trends and influence culture. There is no better time to join the league as a partner, and we are excited to work with SKIMS, a brand that has quickly cemented its status as a cultural centerpiece, to elevate each other’s brands and celebrate female athletes and their impact on society”.
