An overnight tragedy unfolded in Remerton, Georgia, when 21-year-old Brianna Long, a waitress at The Pier, was fatally shot while finishing her shift.
Georgia authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, which occurred in the early morning hours of last Sunday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced in a news release.
According to the Bureau, Brianna Long was completing her work shift at The Pier when the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. At the time of the shooting, she was inside the bar, which had already closed for the night.
The Georgia Bureau has reported that the shooting stemmed from an apparent altercation that took place outside the establishment. Tragically, many customers were still outside when the incident unfolded and several vehicles were targeted in the shooting.
Brianna Long: A young life cut short
Brianna Long was rushed to the hospital following the shooting, where she fought for her life but, devastatingly, succumbed to her injuries. Local authorities are actively investigating the incident and so far, no arrests have been made or charges filed in connection with her tragic death.

In addition to her role as a waitress, Brianna Long was a dental hygiene student at Valdosta State University. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she was chasing her dreams and building her future.
The university, according to a WCTV report, expressed its grief, stating, “Our hearts are broken by the senseless loss of Brianna Long. We keep her family and friends of hers in our thoughts and prayers.”
As the investigation progresses, they await answers and justice after this violent event.
