An Israeli bombing in a refugee camp in Gaza caused the death of at least 145 people this Tuesday, hospital sources informed the Efe news agency. Specifically, the missiles fell in the Jabalia area, in the north of that territory controlled by Hamas terrorists.
A Public Relations official at the Indonesian Hospital told the agency that the attacks occurred at 3:00 pm. After that, a large number of injured people began to arrive at the Emergency Department.
“They arrived by the hundreds, the majority were minors and women,” said the informant, who presumes that the death toll from Israel’s new bombing may be higher, because many people are still under the rubble of the collapsed buildings.
The agency indicated that at least 90 deceased were taken to the hospital, while another 55 were transferred to the Kamal Adwan center, located in the north of the strip.
Since Monday night, the surrounding area of the medical center has been the target of Israeli bombing because it is presumed that there are underground tunnels used by Hamas terrorists. The Indonesian Hospital, Efe noted, has suffered material damage from the nearby explosions, but has not suffered direct impacts.
A hospital source said that many families of displaced people who have nowhere to go are staying at the site, as well as relatives of the admitted patients.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that hundreds of Palestinians were killed or injured in the shelling of the Jabalia refugee camp.
Iyad Bozum, Hamas Interior Spokesperson, stated in a press conference that due to the fall of six bombs, allegedly American-made and dropped by Israeli planes, there are 400 dead and wounded.
Countries condemn the bombing of Israel
Due to Israel’s bombing of the refugee camp in Gaza, several countries and the Arab League expressed their condemnation.
“The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the inhumane Israeli attack against a residential block in the Jabalia countryside, which caused the death and injury of more than 400 civilians,” the Foreign Ministry reported, as quoted by Efe.
Likewise, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan rejected, in the same terms as Egypt, the aggression in the Gaza Strip and held the State of Israel responsible for the event. “We express our strong condemnation and rejection of this act, which contradicts all human and moral values, and the norms of international humanitarian law,” he said.
Qatar, in a statement on
“This massacre tests the entire international system and international humanitarian law,” Abulgueit said in a statement.
Saudi Arabia also rejected “the inhumane attacks perpetrated” by the Israelis and stated that “the continued escalation” against Hamas “is not justified.”
