The Mexican women’s team gave a coup of authority this Tuesday at the Pan American Games in Chile by beating Argentina 2-0 and getting their ticket to the final of the soccer tournament, now going on to fight for the gold medal, which will be disputed next weekend in Valparaíso.
The Aztecs started as favorites after a solid first phase in which they came first in the group and they accredited this condition with a solid match on all lines that makes them a rival to fear in the final.
If we add to this a player who is making a difference in the attack, the options multiply: Lizbeth Ovalle scored again and became the star of the tricolor with two more goals.
The Tigres UANL midfielder took advantage of one of her best virtues, arriving in the area on the second line, to open the scoring 32 minutes into the game.
Until then, the control of the ball and the game belonged to the North Americans, who had two other opportunities before opening the scoring at the feet of Diana Ordóñez, the agile forward of the Houston Dash, from the North American professional league.
In the second half, the trend was the same: the Mexicans managing their advantage and trying to double it and the Argentines trying to link enough passes to get in front of the goal, but without luck in the final meters.
The sentence and peace of mind for Mexico, which fell in the group stage in Lima 2019, came at the last minute, thanks again to Ovalle, one of the players of the tournament.
