Anne Nelson-Koch, a 75-year-old former teacher in Monroe County, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a student while working at a school.

The former teacher was sentenced after being found guilty of more than a dozen charges, including sexual assault of a child and indecent exposure to a minor, according to Fox News digital.

All 25 sentences will be served concurrently, and upon her release, Nelson-Koch will be under extended supervision for 15 years.

The events occurred when the accused, 67 years old at the time, attacked the 14-year-old teenager in the school basement during the 2016-17 school year, according to the information.

Even though Nelson-Koch faced the possibility of 600 years in prison, the judge decided to grant a lesser sentence after considering testimony about his character, which was a significant factor in the sentence.

“I think this is a painful sentence for some people in our community,” Monroe County Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Skiles told Fox News Digital of the judge’s decision.

The family asks for protection

According to Skiles’ statements to the outlet, the boy’s family had sought a longer sentence and the boy’s father made a shocking statement at the hearing, asking for protection for his son “because he felt that he had not been able to do so.”

Previously, prosecutor Skiles had praised the bravery of the young man, who told the truth and was heard by the jury.

“The victim of these crimes is an incredibly brave young man. He told the truth and the jury heard it loud and clear. “We are very grateful to the jury for their dedication to finding the truth,” Skiles said last August, when Anne Nelson-Koch was indicted.

Likewise, according to Daily Mail, he recognized the dedication of investigator Paul Sloan of the Tomah Police Department in solving the case.

“We could not have achieved this result without the strength of the victim and the dedication and exhaustive investigation of Investigator Sloan,” Skiles said.
