“Land of Hope” came to an end. The soap opera starring Carolina Miranda and Andrés Palacios reached an audience of more than two million viewers in the United States in its final episode, according to Final Nielsen Overnight Ratings.

But let’s talk about all the outcomes within this story, and we can start by saying that what had to happen happened and the bad guys got what they deserved. However, I can say that, personally, I expected a little more severity in the ending of Marcos Rivas, a character masterfully brought to life by actor Luis Roberto Guzmán. Which leads me to talk about the best of the night, which was Mariana Seoane’s performance in all of her interventions. It is worth saying that the actress and singer like Bernarda Rangel got under the skin of the viewers.

The power of her scene in front of Marcos, to begin with, was heartbreaking. We saw her tremble on screen, cry inconsolably with anger, disappointment and fear of becoming a murderer for love and revenge. Which ended up happening and after everything she experienced with Marcos, after so much pain and betrayal… her being the one to end the life of the man she loved and hated in equal measure was truly poetic.

Marcos killed Valentina! Bernarda found out about this and took revenge with her own hands. Marcos went into a wave of self-destruction when he found out that he had murdered a young woman who could very well have been his daughter. Marcos ended up with a bullet in the chest, when after admitting to being the culprit with tears and a void in his soul, he had decided to leave. Yes, this great villain admitted his love and his sin. Yes, this villain didn’t believe Bernarda would pull the trigger. Yes, this villain decided to run away from her and run her over if necessary… yes, this villain died at the hands of the one he loved so much. Was he right into this story?, yes. But I wanted more…

Other characters who received what they deserved were those of Martín Trejo and Rutilio Ferrer. At first it was Trejo’s ending that worried me. As time went by, he gained the public’s affection despite being bad, despite being a henchman of the baddest villains in this story. However, the same awareness he acquired led him to surrender to the authorities, but not before enforcing the law. He himself handcuffed Rutilio after finding him trying to drown Bernarda. She had discovered that the mayor of the town was responsible for the death of Esteban Arteaga, and she had also decided to report him for attempted rape.

Trejo, it is true, lost his freedom but on the path of his conversion to the “good side of the force” he made friends, it makes you see that he was not left alone, while Rutilio Ferrer lost everything, not only his freedom and his power, but also to his family, a family that he never valued, that he never approved, that he never loved and that he never respected. Rutilio Ferrer ended up in jail, bitter and alone. Deserved ending!

“Land of Hope” thus came to an end, with Santos and María Teresa married, melting into a kiss of eternal love. With Bernarda accepting that her daughter Regina and Clemente also deserve her blessing to love each other without recriminations or complexes.

Many other characters were apparently “acquitted”, we did not see them pay for their evils, oh unless exile was the punishment they wanted to represent when Marcos Rivas fired all his workers including his jackal…

I repeat then that this entire outcome was seen by more than two million viewers on Univision and now its entire story is also available on the ViX + streaming platform.
