NEW YORK – The man who was shot by police this morning in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn would be Jason Pass, accused of shooting to death a neighbor and his stepson in that same borough in the middle of a dispute over noise, ABC 7 reported.

The health condition of the injured man and the circumstances of the shooting are unknown.

The man was rushed to a hospital.

Pass, 47, worked as a prison security guard. However, he was fired, the New York Daily News reported.

Pass is the suspect of killing Bladimy Mathurin, 47, on Sunday night at 1418 Brooklyn Avenue; and his son Chinwai Mode, 27, because they were allegedly making a lot of noise in his apartment.

Security camera images released by the New York Police Department (NYPD) show the moment in which the suspect carried out the attack at around 10:39 p.m.

In the scene, Mathurin’s wife is initially seen arguing with Pass in the hallway. Then her son comes out and finally her partner.

The confrontation escalates to the point where Mathurin is seen holding a pair of scissors near Pass’s neck as his wife tries to pull him away. Just seconds later, the man begins shooting as Mathurin returns to his apartment.

Mathurin abruptly approaches Pass who reacts by pulling out a gun and shooting him and then his stepson. Pass even moves to the door area of Maruthin’s apartment when the man is already on the ground and shoots him again.

Some community leaders believe that Mathurin was trying to protect his family, while relatives of the fugitive understand that Pass acted in self-defense.

The ABC News report indicates that the brawl was the result of a long dispute between neighbors over the noise issue.

Six calls to 311 were made from Pass’s apartment since March 8, 2022 due to this matter. The complaints referred to alleged hits on the ground.

Mathurin resided in the apartment above Pass’s.

“Children make noise all the time, but that doesn’t mean someone can come with a gun and take another person’s life,” said Mickael Louis, a friend of the victim’s family.

The man has been missing since he left the building via the elevator and then on foot heading east.
