The Pentagon on Tuesday introduced a digital form for troops and other federal employees to report “direct knowledge of U.S. government programs or activities related to” unidentified anomalous phenomena, known as UAPs, which were previously called UFOs.
The online form allows current and former U.S. military service members, government workers and contractors to share information about UAP-related programs or activities dating back to 1945.
The All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) has implemented this form, for the purpose of collecting information that will be used in a report on UAPs ordered by the House of Representatives. This report is scheduled to be presented in June 2024.
The AARO, created through a defense policy bill passed by Congress in 2021, is considered the lead federal agency tasked with UAP-related efforts, CBS News reported.
Pay attention to the information
It is important to note that AARO will not accept classified information through this form, and it will not be considered a violation of confidentiality agreements.
Additionally, only persons who are U.S. government employees or contractors with direct knowledge of “U.S. government programs or activities related to the UAP” are requested to contribute information.
The form, according to CBS News, also warns that providing false information could result in fines or jail time. This Department of Defense effort seeks to address and provide declassified information about these mysterious objects, in an attempt to provide transparency to the public.
The website on which the form is located is part of a broader effort aimed at offering a “one-stop shop” for public information related to AARO, officials said in August. This includes photographs and videos of solved and declassified UAP cases.
Not suitable for the public
Although the form is not designed for public use, AARO Director Sean Kirkpatrick has expressed his understanding of the public’s interest in reporting UAP sightings to the agency.
Kirkpatrick noted that they are considering methods to allow the public to report these phenomena in the third phase of the safe reporting mechanism, as detailed by The Hill.
Importantly, according to the office director, the information provided through the form and follow-up interviews with AARO officials will be protected as personal and confidential.
“I would like to take this opportunity to strongly encourage any current or former US Government employee, military or civilian, or contractor who believes they have first-hand knowledge of a US Government UAP program or activity. .to introduce yourself using this new secure tool. reporting mechanism,” Kirkpatrick said, as reported by The Hill. “We want to hear from you.”
In recent months, more than 270 UAP reports have been submitted to the U.S. government, prompting growing interest and concern in Congress, as well as hearings and calls to investigate the federal response to UAPs.
