World Vegan Day has been celebrated every November 1 since 1994, and after several decades it has become a lifestyle and eating style that is increasing. To celebrate, the Californian fast food chain Plant Power Fast Food presented the “Hippie Patty”, a burger made from black beans.
World Vegan Day had its origin when the foundation of the Vegan Society in the United Kingdom celebrated its 50th anniversary, and proposed celebrating the date, which goes far beyond not eating products of animal origin.
This is a higher level than vegetarianism, as they have a stricter approach by not limiting themselves to the consumption of meat, but any product of animal origin, not just meat. For most vegans, this extends to avoiding honey and beverages treated with animal products.
It is then that under the trappings of veganism, that Plant Power Fast Food presents the Hippie Patty, a burger of black beans, poblano chiles, chipotle chiles, roasted cashews, fresh garlic and onion, which can be accompanied with another novelty on the menu, sweet potatoes fried.
Zach Vouga, founder of Plant Power Fast Food, assures that the new creation has a special meaning. “The Hippie Patty is our love letter to those early vegan days. “It’s a reminder that sometimes the simplest foods like vegetables, legumes, nuts and herbs have the most powerful effect.”
A product designed for the first steps of every vegan. “In my school days, black bean burgers were my lifeline and represent veganism for many of us, as they represented a delicious and tasty alternative to meat burgers with high fat and cholesterol content,” quotes the specialized portal Qsrweb. .
The Plant Power Fast Food chain was created in 2016, based in San Diego, California, where it has several restaurants and one in Las Vegas.
