After the attacks carried out by members of the Fluminense bar against Boca Juniors fans who were enjoying the fanfest in Copacabana prior to the final of the Copa Libertadores, a fan of the Argentine club tearfully asked Conmebol to take action on what happened, stating that “this is not football.”
“Guys, it’s time to cut it, this is not football,” said the Boca Juniors fan to the ‘TNT Sports Argentina’ cameras. “We traveled from Mexico, almost 8,000 km to experience this final and it is not possible for them to do this to us,” he added through tears.
In that sense, he asked the highest governing body of South American football to take action on the matter and punish those who committed this unfortunate act that required the intervention of the Rio de Janeiro police to control the riots.
“Conmebol has to do something about this. It cannot be possible that being behind your back, in front of you or next to the ‘fanzone’ they do this to us. Boca (the fans) didn’t mess with anyone, Boca lived his own party, we drank caipirinhas, we watched the sunset. Boca was family while these (Fluminense ultras) came and took everything from us,” commented the fan.
“They stole our wallets, they hit us, they threw chairs, sticks at us, they threw everything at us. “It cannot be that football is lived like this,” he stated.
