Highly processed foods, with added sugars and sodium, as well as high levels of saturated and trans fats, are related to fast food and its harmful effects on health, but not all fast foods are so harmful, according to a specialist.

The most popular fast foods are hamburgers, fries and soft drinks, which due to the amount of fats and carbohydrates can affect health and cause diseases ranging from obesity to type 2 diabetes.

Nutrition expert Pablo Zumaquero explains on his social networks that there is fast food rich in vegetables that can be eaten without fear, either because you don’t have time to cook, to satisfy a craving or because you like it.

Due to its fresh ingredients such as legumes, corn, avocado and chili peppers, traditional Mexican food is another of the nutritionist’s recommendations, since many of the dishes provide a quantity of fiber, healthy fats and proteins. Another nutritional element is the use of spices.

As proposed dishes are jalapenos stuffed with fajitas, which have less frying and fewer sauces, or a meat casserole with avocados, vegetables, rice and beans.

Krista Linares, a nutritionist specialized in this type of gastronomy, cited by El Español, explains that “Mexican food is associated with better cholesterol levels, lower inflammation, better insulin sensitivity and a reduced risk of breast cancer.”

Turkish food

The Spanish nutritionist recommends Turkish food, since many of its dishes have legumes, vegetables and greens as the main ingredient. In particular, kebab with meat, sauces and onion, tomato and lettuce, he recommends eating it with rice, replacing French fries. Other benefits of this meal are that meats and vegetables are prepared on the grill, which helps preserve nutrients.

Chinese Food

Chinese food is rich in pickled vegetables, salted fish and jellyfish, tofu and tofu products, rice and rice snacks, fermented sauces, fish balls and eggs, foods that are a source of nutrients, fiber and healthy fats.

The nutritionist’s recommendation leans towards Chinese salad, meat, fish or seafood with vegetables, accompanied by white rice instead of fried.

A healthy option is Indian cuisine due to the high consumption of plant products such as legumes, whole grains and spices. Ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, lentils and chickpeas have high nutritional value with antioxidant properties, protein and fiber. Zumaquero highlights the vegetarian component of this type of food.

Some studies maintain that the traditional Indian diet, due to its dishes with prebiotics and probiotics in fermented foods, contributes to improving gastrointestinal health.

Experts indicate that the traditional Japanese diet (Washoku) brings benefits because it is rich in the consumption of fish and soy products and a low intake of animal fats and meat, indicates El Español.

Meanwhile, in the case of Japanese fast food you can consume options such as sushi, sashimi and vegetable tempura that have proteins, nutrients and omega-3. The expert recommends wakame salad with nigiris, sashimi or main course makis.
