This November 2, Neymar underwent surgery in Brazil, so he is now beginning to recover from the tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee that he suffered in the last double date of the South American Qualifiers.
Neymar has been quite active in recent hours on social media, especially through Instagram stories. This past Wednesday he had published a photo from the clinic bed where he would be operated on in which he showed the typical patient tape that he wore on his wrist. The image was accompanied with a prayer emoji and a heart.
And this same Thursday, the day of the operation, he shared another photo in which he showed a portrait of his children along with the phrase: “Everything went well.” This was interpreted as a sign of positivism in the 31-year-old footballer, who was only able to play a few games with Al-Hilal before suffering the serious injury.
Neymar only played five games for Al-Hilal before getting injured. Two assists and a goal, Ney’s record in the Arab team, which suffered a tremendous loss for the remainder of the campaign. The fear even extends to Brazil, because apart from the Qualifier commitments in the coming weeks, there are risks that it will not make it to the Copa América 2024, to be played from June 20 to July 14.
Operated in Belo Horizonte
“We were very satisfied with the results. It was a success. He must remain in the hospital for 24 or 48 hours depending on his clinical evolution,” stated the doctor of the Brazilian team, Rodrigo Lasmar, responsible for the surgery, in a brief statement that he made several hours after the procedure.
The specialist added that the “next step is rehabilitation with physiotherapy” and, regarding his recovery process and the time necessary for his return to the fields, he limited himself to saying that he intends to “gradually disseminate new information.”
The operation of the former player from clubs such as Barcelona and PSG lasted for about four hours, until the end of this Thursday morning, and, although Lasmar did not give any details, specialists consider that his recovery may require about eight months.
The operation on the 31-year-old footballer was carried out by a team led by Lasmar, the head of the Brazilian team’s medical team, at the Mater Dei Hospital in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, and was attended by the medical director of Al Hilal. , the Colombian Juan David Peña Duque.
Neymar underwent “a surgical procedure to correct his injuries to his left knee; The anterior cruciate ligament was reconstructed and the injuries to both menisci were repaired,” explained the specialist.
