The German Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool coach, assured that the Colombian Luis Díaz has complete freedom to decide whether or not he can play on matchday 11 of the Premier League in a Reds match against Luton Town, after the parents of the footballer were kidnapped last week.

“We are not going to force the situation. If he feels good, he will train with us. When you see him with the group, you see him well, but you can tell that he is not sleeping well,” Klop said this Friday in a press conference reported by EFE.

Klopp confirmed that the Colombian has trained in recent days and that it will depend on himself whether he feels fit to be considered to play against Luton.

“The news that comes to us from Colombia gives us some hope. “I can’t say what we will do because right now we are waiting, but everything depends on him, if he wants to be available or not, I am not going to force anything,” Klopp insisted.

Luis Manuel Díaz was kidnapped on Saturday, October 28, along with his wife Cilenis Marulanda in the town of Barrancas, in the Colombian department of La Guajira, by armed people traveling on motorcycles.

While Luis Díaz’s mother was released, Mr. Luis Manuel remains kidnapped by the National Liberation Army (ELN), according to the Colombian government.

In a statement from the Colombian government it was reported that the kidnapping “was perpetrated by a unit belonging to the ELN.”

“We demand that the ELN immediately release Mr. Luis Manuel Díaz, and we remind him that it is his entire responsibility to guarantee his life and integrity,” added the statement from the government’s Dialogue Table with the ELN.
