The historic Argentine soccer player who played for Club León of Liga MX, Mauro Boselli, officially announced his retirement from soccer this Thursday after many years of a successful career; The ‘Matador’ reported that he will hang up his boots once the current season of the Argentine Professional League ends (which has a few games remaining).

The information was made known by the player himself through his social networks; On his Instagram account he shared an emotional video in which he thanks his followers for supporting him throughout his 19-year career and now at 38 years old he wants to focus on new personal goals to grow as a person.

“Today I want to tell you that, when the season ends, I will close my career as a professional soccer player,” Boselli began in his statements where he placed main emphasis on Estudiantes de La Plata for having allowed him to play his last games as a professional within their ranks.

“In Europe things were not as good as I expected but everything happens for a reason. I received a call from Gustavo Matosas, who made me meet my other great love: León de México. The story was wonderful: a two-time championship, being a scoring champion 3 times and being one of the top scorers in the history of the institution. Being Fiera, for me, without a doubt was, is and will be a source of pride,” highlighted the Argentine.

Boselli joined the ranks of the Mexican Club León in 2013 and from that moment on he became a very important figure in the offense to score a total of 130 goals and thus become the club’s second all-time top scorer; The striker was only six goals behind the historic Dumbo López, who scored 136 goals.

In the 2014 Apertura tournament he became champion with the Fiera by scoring 12 goals. Despite his successful career within the Aztec team, he had to leave the ranks of Club León in 2019; He was part of Corinthians in Brazil, Cerro Porteño in Paraguay and finally joined the ranks of Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina.
