I usually hear from many colleagues and people like me that, although technology has given them the possibility of working remotely and having resources that make their workday a simpler activity, there is still one issue that is difficult for them. a lot: set time limits, especially when teleworking.

According to statistics presented by the American Psychological Society, approximately 65% of American workers cited work as a major source of stress, which may contribute to the development of burnout.

Although working from home has become a reality for many people in recent times, it is a scenario in which great challenges arise, especially when you do not have a dedicated workspace, since the feeling of being “always working” ” can be overwhelming.

Luckily, there are effective strategies to set limits and avoid burnout, so if you are one of those people who finds it difficult to end the work day and enjoy quality time to rest and recharge, continue reading.

One of the first measures that can be taken is to dedicate the last hour of the day exclusively to work, avoiding the sofa, the kitchen table or the bed, as these places can easily become improvised work spaces, which leads to work extra.

By reserving this last hour to focus on tasks at hand and avoid distractions, greater focus and a sense of accomplishment can be achieved at the end of the day.

Additionally, it’s important to leave the house at a certain time, regardless of whether it’s to exercise, shop for groceries, or just go for a walk. Getting away from the computer and the endless to-do list helps to change the environment and mentally disconnect from work. This time away allows us to establish a clear separation between our professional side and our personal side.

Another essential aspect to avoid exhaustion and the feeling of being “always working” is to silence application notifications on your phone after finishing our work day.

Setting clear boundaries and respecting them helps maintain a healthy work-life balance, which in turn contributes to greater productivity and overall well-being.
