Mexican Javier “Chicharito” Hernández put an end to his time at the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer. After four years in the Californian team, the man from Guadalajara did not renew his contract and will look for a new professional challenge.
In that sense, it is necessary to do a brief review of Chicharito’s career in American soccer. Since his arrival at the beginning of 2020, the Mexican has managed to score 39 goals in 83 games in all competitions, but has failed to win titles with the Galaxy.
His first official goal came on July 14, 2020 against the Portland Timbers in the MLS is Back tournament, the return competition after the suspension due to the pandemic.
In 2021 he added 17 goals and by 2022 he added 18, the most goals in a season for the Mexican in United States soccer. In 2023 he was only able to play nine games and managed to score one goal before injuring his left knee in June in the match corresponding to the quarterfinals of the 2023 US Open Cup between LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake.
Now Chicharito will begin another stage in his professional career at the age of 35, so his future could be in his original Chivas or in “retirement” football in Saudi Arabia.
“Life becomes exciting when you allow yourself to change and evolve to new challenges. Thanks to all the people who were involved in my path these 4 years. Thank you for everything LA Galaxy,” the Mexican wrote on his Instagram account to say goodbye to the Californian team.
