Jackie Kennedy was wearing a pink suit when President John F. Kennedy, her husband, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. It all happened on November 22, 1963 and the events are relived in “JFK: One Day in America”, a production by Charlotte Rodrigues.
The premiere of this documentary series will be on November 5, starting at 8 pm, through National Geographic. But these will also be available on Disney+ and Hulu starting November 6.
Thanks to the premiere of this magnificent production, El Diario de Nueva York had the opportunity to speak exclusively with Charlotte Rodrigues, after having seen the first episode of “JFK: One Day in America” with her. From this moment we can confirm that the first episode is lived very quickly, and time passes quickly when you really enjoy the story that is being exposed in full color. Yes, in full color!
The viewer will experience the shocking moment of the president’s assassination in full color, but beyond this they will obtain a broader vision of how the first lady, Jackie Kennedy and the rest of the eyewitnesses who were involved in the assassination experienced this entire moment.
This project, for this reason, is so important, because it allows us to see inside the life of John and Jackie along with their children and some of the secret agents, who due to their work and closeness to the presidential family, know and were witnesses of the true dynamics of the couple. But these were also eyewitnesses of the day in which the history of the United States of the Kennedys changed definitively and here they relive the memory, the pain and in some cases the guilt of having arrived on time.
We spoke intimately with Charlotte Rodrigues after watching the first episode, and it is worth saying that after walking the streets of Dallas and all the places where Lee Harvey Oswald – the murderer – was, before, during and after perpetrating the events , many doubts arise…too many in fact. This project generates in the viewer a strong desire to want to know the truth, because everything is suspicious. Everything seems too simple, so much so that it arouses the disbelief of many.
For this reason, there are various theories surrounding the murder, which is why I asked Rodrigues if for this documentary they managed to have access to some type of classified archive or if if someone or the government itself had requested it, they would have been denied. With a smile on his face he told me no, because the intention of this documentary is not necessarily to find the person responsible or unmask the culprit, with “JFK: One Day in America” they only seek to show all the events and the step by step of the criminal mind, as well as exposing on the one hand how Jackie Kennedy experienced this entire process.
