A young Queens man was fatally stabbed during a chase by a group of men and he stumbled home, fading in front of his uncle who was shocked by the scene, authorities reported Friday.
“Help me!” Henry Celleri, 22, pleaded shortly before he collapsed and fell unconscious on the sidewalk following the Oct. 7 stabbing in Flushing.
Paramedics transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
The group of criminals attacked Celleri, who tried to escape down the street, but the suspects chased him before throwing him to the asphalt, kicking him and stabbing him in the chest, officials said.
Despite his injuries, the young Hispanic man was able to get home while bleeding to death along the way, at which point he fainted in front of his uncle, Daily News reported.
Likewise, Celleri was assaulted and his belongings were taken, said Alfredo Bermejo, who created an account on the GoFundMe page for the victim’s family.
“[Tenía] just 22 years old, from Ecuador, in the province of Cañar,” Bermejo wrote in Spanish on the GoFundMe page, adding that Celleri had only been in the United States for a year. “We wholeheartedly ask for help from all our compatriots to be able to repatriate his remains to his native country.”
Investigators collected images from security cameras where the attack can be seen. Using the video, the New York Police Department (NYPD) was able to identify Brayan Carchi Dutan, 20, as one of the suspects.
New York authorities captured Dutan on Thursday, charging him with murder, gang assault and weapons possession, officials said.
