Millions of beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program in the United States will receive a direct payment on December 1.

According to the Social Security Administration, in a little less than a month, the first of two payments that will be given in December will be made, which will be for a maximum amount of $914 for applicants who file taxes individually.

The first payment is scheduled for Friday, December 1, followed by a second payment that will be given on Friday, December 29.

Said second payment corresponds to the month of January 2024, but will be advanced to be delivered on the last business day of the month of December.

The reason for this is that January 1st is a holiday and payment could not be made that day. That’s why it comes forward.

To be eligible to receive these payments, recipients must be at least 65 years old and meet certain specific financial requirements.

However, some people under age 65 may qualify for payments if they are partially or totally blind, or have a physical or mental disability that significantly limits their daily activities.

The amount of the payment varies, depending on the way beneficiaries file their taxes.

For those who file individually, the payment will be $914 dollars per month. For couples filing jointly, the combined monthly payment totals $1,371.

Likewise, essential people, who are those who live with a person who receives SSI benefits to care for them, will receive a monthly payment of $458 dollars.
