The Israeli Army reported that its troops took control of a Hamas military stronghold in the northern Gaza Strip when they attacked one of its cells in a building near a Gazan hospital.
“Over the past day, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops secured a military stronghold belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip. The troops located anti-tank missiles, projectile launchers, weapons and various intelligence materials at the site,” the military spokesperson announced.
“In addition, IDF troops located several Hamas terrorists who barricaded themselves in a building adjacent to Al Quds Hospital and were planning to carry out an attack against the forces from there. IDF soldiers directed a plane to attack Hamas terrorists. The attack caused significant secondary explosions that indicate the presence of a Hamas weapons depot in a civilian area,” added the military entity.
Likewise, at night the troops carried out air and sea attacks against several “terrorist cells” of the Palestinian group and different targets in the enclave, including militiamen who were preparing to launch an anti-tank missile.
The attacks coincided with intense bombing by Israel against several points in the Palestinian enclave, including locations in the south where a large part of the Gazan population from the north was evacuated, on orders from the IDF.
One of the places attacked in the early hours of this Tuesday was the city of Rafah, located at the southern end of the Strip and where, according to numbers published by local authorities, 30 people lost their lives in the last hours.
On October 7, Israel declared war on the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas after it carried out a massive attack on Israeli territory that left more than 1,400 dead (most of them civilians), 5,400 injured and at least 241 kidnapped in Gaza.
Israeli retaliatory attacks on the Palestinian enclave have left more than 10,000 dead (including more than 4,000 children), more than 25,400 injured and some 1.5 million displaced, in addition to at least 30 Israeli soldiers killed during the ground offensive.
