In an incident that has shocked the community of Santa Rosa, California, the victim of a gruesome beheading has been identified as Elvia López-Arroyo, a 64-year-old grandmother. Her death occurred in the 500 block of Pomo Trail last week.

The tragic discovery occurred when authorities responded to a report of a possible homicide at his residence.

Local authorities confirmed that the decapitated victim’s head was not found at the crime scene, although multiple weapons were discovered in the home, Fox News reported.

Despite this disturbing scene, authorities have not specified what type of weapons were found, and additional tests are being conducted to determine the murder weapon.

Investigations revealed that Luis Gustavo Arroyo López, a 23-year-old grandson of the victim, was the alleged perpetrator of the heinous crime. According to police, the murder of Elvia López-Arroyo was a “targeted attack” carried out by her own grandson, who then fled the scene with the head of his grandmother.

The horror did not end there, as detectives recovered the victim’s head on the south bank of Santa Rosa Creek, near the Prince Memorial Greenway in Santa Rosa. This disturbing discovery occurred on Saturday night.

The search for the 23-year-old culminated early Saturday in San Francisco, where he was arrested by local police.

With background

Authorities located him at the Transbay Transit Center on Mission Street, according to Fox News. Aroyo-Lopez faces charges of murder and violation of community supervision following his release from a previous crime. Notably, he was not granted bail, and currently remains in custody.

Additionally, it has been revealed that the defendant has a violent criminal history that includes convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and related weapons charges.

However, it is important to highlight that these records were not directly related to the victim of this horrendous homicide. Aroyo-Lopez had recently been released from state prison and placed under community supervision before this chilling incident occurred.

Neighbors in the area told KTVU that the crime disturbs them, especially in their normally quiet neighborhood.

“In fact, I was very surprised. This is actually a pretty good, quiet neighborhood,” neighbor Sarah Wierenga told KTVU.
