A PSG fan was attacked by several hooded men in the early hours of Tuesday in Milan, the Italian police announced.
The French fan, whose identity has not been revealed, “was seriously injured with two stab wounds to the leg” and was quickly hospitalized, police said in a statement.
Several witnesses told the police that there was a confrontation between fifty Milan fans and fans of the French champion in the Navigli neighborhood.
Other fans, as well as police officers, suffered minor injuries such as bruises and cuts. The clubs have already spoken out on the matter and both stated that they condemn any act of violence in their name. “Football for us is passion, not hate. “Sport must unite, not divide,” AC Milan communicated through social networks.
The group is being investigated by the Italian authorities, not only to find who is responsible for the events of Monday night, but also because it is not the first time they have received foreign fans with violence. In September, a Newcastle fan was stabbed by Milan ultras when the English team visited the city for the Champions League.
