A big surprise came to a man from Anaheim, California, who is a regular lottery player, to such an extent that he calls himself “The King of $20 Scratch-Offs,” since he managed to win a prize of $5 million.

The lucky winner was identified as Daniel Peramaki, who a few days ago went to the California Lottery offices to claim his prize. There, he told the officials that, at first, he thought it was all a mistake, since previously he had only won small prizes, without imagining that he would get a big one.

Furthermore, Peramaki indicated that being the winner of this lottery prize was not only a matter of luck, but he also achieved it because he has a whole gambling ritual.

The ritual that led him to win $5 million with a lottery scratch-off

The California man shared that he has several “tricks” that he performs every time he buys a scratch-off.

To start, try to purchase the seventh, eighth, or ninth ticket in newly opened packages of $20 tickets. Then you don’t scrape them off right away, but rather put them away for several hours. “If I scratch them right away, I’m a loser,” he said, according to The Sacramento Bee. “Normally, I buy them, put them in my pocket and wait. I didn’t scratch this one until midnight,” he added.

The scratch-off with which he obtained the $5 million was obtained with the seventh ticket.

“I was in shock probably all day. I didn’t sleep that night… I showed someone at work the $5 million. He said, ‘Oh, congratulations, $5,000,’ and I said, ‘That’s a comma, not a decimal!’” she added.

The man bought the lottery ticket at an Anaheim liquor store called Star Liquor on South State College Boulevard. The business will receive a $25,000 bonus for the transaction.

The scratch-off ticket belonged to the Neon Cash Party game. Peramaki decided to collect the lump sum of $2.9 million.
