The Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti ratified this Saturday his commitment to Real Madrid until his current contract expires on June 30, 2024, also referring to the intention of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to acquire his services.
“I feel proud that one of the largest teams in the world like Brazil notices me. Everything is clear and I have a contract until June 30. Until nothing happens, I am not going to answer about my future,” said the coach in a press conference reported by AFP.
On the other hand, when asked if he would wait until the last minute for a proposal from the white club, he answered without a doubt: “Of course!”
The press and fans of Brazil are not satisfied with the performance of the five-time champion at the start of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The Cariocas are sixth behind Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina, a team that is in first position.
With Fernando Diniz as interim coach, the “Canarinha” has lost three consecutive games, something that has never happened before. The Brazilians had not lost at home in the World Cup qualifiers either and Venezuela, which for a long time was considered the weakest team in South America, drew 1-1 away.
So far, the Brazilian soccer team is sixth in the South American Soccer Confederation (Conmebol) qualifying table with two games won, one tied and three lost.
According to UOL Esporte, the 64-year-old Italian coach would not be that far from the CBF and that the parties would enter into formal negotiations when “Carletto” ends his stay in the merengue team.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian team is still in trouble in a 2026 World Cup qualification that is becoming difficult for them.
The teams that finish in the top six places in the South American qualifiers will directly access the tournament that will be played in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The seventh place must compete in an intercontinental playoff.
