Juan Román Riquelme, current vice president of Boca Juniors and candidate for the team’s presidency in the next elections, responded to the elected president of Argentina Javier Milei, who a few days ago issued statements about the words of former soccer player Martín Palermo, who assured that he could arrive to be coach of the Bombonera team.

This Sunday, Milei published a controversial message on the social network soccer.

“When Martín Palermo retired from soccer on the Boca field, my sadness was so great that I never returned to La Bombonera again. If he now returns as coach, he makes me want to come back crazy,” said the new Argentine president.

Riquelme was consulted about these statements, who did not want to delve into the issue and only wished the politician luck in his new stage as Head of State. “I wish Javier Milei a lot of luck, I hope he can take us forward,” said the ’10’ in an interview with the C5N television network.

Likewise, he sent a short but direct message ensuring that anyone who is a Boca fan “can never change.”

This confrontation arises after Palermo, top scorer in the history of Boca Juniors and former teammate of Riquelme, showed himself in favor of the other candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency of the club, Andrés Ibarra and Mauricio Macri, respectively, ensuring that he will be the coach of the club. “If things go the way you think they can, I will be Boca’s next coach,” said Martín Palermo, current Platense coach, after Macri mentioned him as a favorite to take over the reins of the bench if they win the elections.
