The United States, Israel and other countries created a task force aimed at cutting off funding for Hamas terrorists. This was reported this Monday by the US Treasury Department in a statement.

He indicated that the objective of that entity, chaired by the United States, Israel, Germany and the Netherlands, is to facilitate the exchange of intelligence to cut off funds to the Palestinian organization, Efe noted.

The group’s creation occurred after the Hamas attack on October 7, in which militants killed around 1,200 people and kidnapped around 240 in areas near Gaza.

The working group will be made up of members of the financial intelligence organizations of 13 countries. They are, in addition to the nations mentioned above: Australia, Canada, Estonia, France, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The United States and the European Union designated that organization, which has de facto governed the Gaza Strip since 2007, as terrorist.

In response to the Oct. 7 attack, the news agency noted, Israel declared war on Hamas and began launching attacks on Gaza. In the strip, more than 14,800 people have already died and it is estimated that more than 7,000 are missing under the rubble.

Since last Friday, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began to be implemented, which contemplates the release of groups of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

This Monday, they agreed to extend the truce for two days, the exchange of hostages for prisoners and the entry of aid into Gaza for two more days. “The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces that it has been agreed with the brothers in Qatar and Egypt to extend the temporary humanitarian truce for two more days under the same conditions as the previous truce,” the terrorists reported in a statement released through Telegram.

The spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Department, Majed al Ansari, also said in his X account that Qatar announced that, as part of the ongoing mediation, an agreement was reached to “extend the humanitarian truce for two more days in the strip. of Gaza.”
