Philip Gordon, National Security Advisor to US Vice President Kamala Harris, met this Tuesday in San Salvador with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele.

He noted that they discussed the importance of the rule of law and due process. In addition to promoting conditions to attract foreign investment, cooperation on migration, law enforcement and other matters.
The Presidential House of El Salvador, for its part, indicated that Nayib Bukele received Kamala Harris’ advisor in the context of strengthening cooperative relations between both countries.
During the meeting, he added, topics of mutual interest were discussed. He noted progress in dismantling gangs, attracting more investment and “key aspects” about the future of El Salvador.
Isobel Coleman, deputy administrator of USAID, and William Duncan, United States ambassador to El Salvador, were also present at the meeting.
“A positive meeting with the president of El Salvador Nayib Bukele, where we discussed the importance of civil society, ensuring digital infrastructure, regional economic integration and the rule of law,” said Coleman, in X.
The National Security Advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris also reported that he heard various perspectives, accompanied by the USAID official, from Salvadoran civil society organizations that advocate for human and labor rights, gender initiatives and civic participation in the Central American country.
“The United States government supports a strong and healthy civil society,” Gordon said on the social network.
The Efe news agency indicated that, in the last month, El Salvador has received the visit of Brian Nichols, Undersecretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs of the United States, who met with different sectors of society and with Nayib Bukele; and Marisa Lago, United States Undersecretary of International Trade.
