Neighbors said Miranda often hung out outside the restaurant as employees prepared to close in hopes of offering him unsold food. That’s how he was early Monday morning when a suspect approached him and immediately began attacking him.

The injured young man ran towards witnesses and asked for help, stating that he had just been stabbed. Paramedics took him to Lincoln Hospital, but were unable to save him.

A day earlier, Miranda had robbed a 60-year-old local store owner. “[Fue un] crime of opportunity,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said of the robbery at a news conference yesterday. “[El] store owner came out and was counting some money outdoors, and [Miranda] “He ran by and robbed him.” That robbery victim was punched in the face, her hand was cut, and $80 was stolen from her, police said.

Hours earlier, on Sunday night, a 49-year-old man was shot dead in front of his wife after parking in a shopping center in The Bronx (NYC). Investigators suspect it was a planned, drug-related homicide.
