The New York Jets received this Wednesday one of the best news so far this season, the return to training of the legendary quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, who had been absent for 79 days after suffering a ruptured tendon. of Achilles, as announced by the team’s coach, Robert Saleh.
“It is a credit to him. He wants to prove that he can do it faster than anyone before. It is a mentality that I think young people should be able to grasp because he loves this organization, he wants to be with his teammates, he wants to be here on the field,” Saleh expressed.
Rodgers’ quick recovery has drawn positive attention since the team initially thought the 40-year-old veteran would miss the entire season.
It should be remembered that the quarterback was injured on September 11, just on the day of his debut with the Jets, on the third play of the first quarter of the game that New York lost 16-22 against the Buffalo Bills
The legendary ‘quarterback’ champion in Super Bowl XLV with the Packers underwent surgery to repair his injury on September 13 and since then he intensified his recovery process until achieving the improvement that today has allowed him to return to training.
Aaron Rodgers showed the progress of his accelerated rehabilitation last October 15, when he showed up without crutches and with enough mobility to throw some passes on the field at MetLife Stadium, home of the Jets, before the week six game in the that his team beat the Philadelphia Eagles 20-10.
From that day on, his presence at his team’s home games was frequent. In each appearance of him he was noticed walking more freely and without the help of any support.
This Wednesday, coach Robert Saleh praised the tenacity of the veteran who played 18 seasons with the Packers before signing with New York for this year.
“The real narrative is that he is old school. He has sacrificed a lot for the organization, for himself and for his teammates. “I think this recovery is a testament to who he is as a human being,” the coach said.
Saleh explained that the first step is to observe Rodgers in a 21-day window of practice in which he will not be exposed.
“Aaron is not going to do anything that will put him in danger. What he will do in practice is no different than what he would do on the playing field. There is no additional risk,” explained the coach.
The Jets are third in the American Conference East with four wins and seven losses. In week 13 they will host the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday with the need to win to keep their few chances of reaching the playoffs alive.
