In a shocking incident in Evansville, Indiana, authorities arrested a man who had a gun and drugs hidden in his rectum.
Christopher Boyd, a 32-year-old ex-convict with a significant criminal history, was arrested last Monday during a routine traffic stop. Although the driver and another passenger were released without charge, Boyd attracted the attention of law enforcement, Fox News Digital reported.
During the search of Boyd, police found a small bag of pills in his right sock, which the detainee claimed were Percocets prescribed by his “Aunt Trish” to relieve pain from a spinal injury.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when, during closer inspection, a “large object” was detected in Boyd’s groin region via a body scanner.
Previous convictions
The surprise increased when, during a strip search at the county jail, two bags of marijuana were discovered hidden near Boyd’s scrotum, a substance that remains illegal in Indiana.
The situation reached its climax when the detainee tensely refused to comply and it was revealed that the object in his rectum was none other than a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard pistol, a firearm that, according to the report, the convict should not possess due to his criminal history and an active protective order against him.
Boyd had a long criminal history in Chicago, Illinois, with previous convictions for attempted murder in 2011 and robbery and domestic assault in 2018, according to Fox News.
Open questions
This incident raises questions about the effectiveness of restrictive measures for individuals with criminal records, especially when firearms are involved. Boyd’s ability to conceal a gun on his body, despite legal restrictions, highlights the need to review and strengthen security and detection protocols in police procedures.
The case also highlights the complexity of addressing drug trafficking, as marijuana, while legal in some places, remains subject to prohibition in Indiana. The intersection of firearms and illegal drugs in the hands of individuals with criminal records poses significant challenges for law enforcement.
Christopher Boyd now faces a series of serious drug, weapons and trafficking charges.
