A few days ago, the departure of Lupita Jones as director of Miss Universe in Mexico was announced, leaving Cynthia de la Vega, from Nuevo León, in her place. However, many Internet users wondered why Ximena Navarrete or Andrea Meza, who have been crowned in the world-class competition, like Jones at the time, did not take the lead.

These concerns also reached Navarrete directly. Through a question and answer dynamic that the famous woman conducted on Instagram, this is what she responded:

“Why didn’t I want to? The truth is that I have never wanted to. Since I won Miss Universe, many have asked me about this, if I wanted to take it, if I would like the franchise, if I would have wanted to be the director.

My goal was always to win Miss Universe and I think that if I were national director I would be obsessed with making someone else win and I don’t have time for that right now, I think it is a job that requires a lot of presence and I can’t right now because I am doing another type of work that is also very important,” said the 35-year-old actress, who is enjoying her time as a mother.

The Jalisco native was crowned Miss Universe in 2010, while Andrea Meza, 29, originally from Chihuahua, obtained this title in 2020 and Lupita Jones, 56, born in Mexicali, Baja California, was crowned in 1991.

Until now, only these three Mexican women have achieved the title of Miss Universe.

In the dynamic, Ximena Navarrete’s followers also asked for their opinion on the public complaints of violence against Jones.

“I don’t like to speak badly about anyone, I think that when you speak badly about someone it says much more about yourself than about the other person. I have absolutely nothing to talk about, the only thing I can say and recognize is that Lupita is a woman who for more than 30 years has created a platform, to my liking, based on integrity, which has allowed many women to achieve their goals. dreams.

“Not all of them have won Miss Universe, but many have made a career out of this platform. For that reason and for being the first Mexican Miss Universe, she deserves my respect. If at any time I have wanted to talk to her I have done so directly, because I believe that is how things are done,” she said.

Cynthia de la Vega, 32, the new director of Miss Universe Mexico, was chosen to represent Mexico in Miss World 2011, but due to differences with Lupita Jones, she had to decline.

Although the disagreements between the two were not clarified, De la Vega dedicated herself to directing the Miss Nuevo León state pageant for seven years.

She represented Mexico in Miss Supranational 2016, in which she obtained 13th place.

In November 2020, the royal was part of a group of former beauty queens who supported the public denunciation of symbolic violence made by Sofía Aragón, Mexicana Universal 2019, against Jones.
