A couple of weeks ago, date 6 of the Conmebol Qualifiers towards the 2026 World Cup took place. The most interesting match of the day was undoubtedly the clash between Brazil and Argentina at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The match was won by the Albiceleste team with a goal from Nicolás Otamendi to leave the final score 0-1. And thus place the world champion Argentina at the top of the classification table.

However, the highlight happened off the pitch. Well, at first the match had to be delayed due to acts of violence in the stands by the Brazilian police towards the Argentine fans who were there.

This caused the Argentine team players to refuse to play the match. Although they later went out onto the field to resume action, the rest of the match was full of friction and exchange of words and gestures between players.

One of these clashes was between the captain of the Argentine team, Lionel Messi, and the Brazil player Rodrygo Goes. Both footballers exchanged words, although covering their mouths. So it was difficult to decipher the words between the two. Although on Messi’s part it was possible to distinguish that on one occasion he said to him, “You shits, why, if we are world champions?”

After this crossing the subject was not discussed again. Until this Wednesday, when at a press conference after Real Madrid beat Napoli 4-2 with a goal from Rodrygo, the Brazilian was asked about that crossing with the Argentine.

However, the 22-year-old attacker did not say anything on the subject. And he even stated with a laugh that his team forbade him from mentioning it. “I can’t talk about that, Madrid won’t let me,” the Brazilian star said.

Rodrygo also took the opportunity to talk about his goal at the Santiago Bernabéu to help Real Madrid win and ensure their presence in the next phase of the Champions League.

“It was a great goal, after a play that I really like to make. It’s difficult to score more goals than Bellingham, but we don’t have a competition. What we both want is to help the team,” Rodrygo explained.
