The president of the United States Joe Biden has opened the doors of the White House to the cameras of ‘Architectural Digest’, the magazine specialized in architecture and design.
Although the president and his wife Jill Biden will spend the holidays at Camp David, the presidential residence located in Maryland, they have also decorated the place for Christmas.
The tour began in the Oval Office, where he explained to ‘Architectural Digest’ that he relied on his brother to choose the furniture and design his large office inside the White House. “My brother knows my tastes very well,” says the president.
In the office there is a large blue rug, on which Biden declared: “I love this rug. I love blue color. That’s the only thing she knew she wanted. The rest was chosen by my brother.”
The president’s brother relied on Jon Meacham for the design of the office. Thanks to this interview, it is clear that each president decorates the White House to his liking. “There is nothing we can’t do,” says Biden.
In addition to what is necessary, the office has been decorated with photo frames and other objects that have sentimental value for him. “It’s really an amazing office. I chose the things that in some way represent.”
To one side of the main desk there is a large Christmas tree decorated with spheres, ribbon and other decorations with figures alluding to Christmas. The bay window behind was also decorated with Christmas wreaths.
The large fireplace has been surrounded with garlands and other decorations.
Biden takes advantage of the tour to say: “You know, there are a lot of other things here that are important to me. And I think about all the amazing things that have happened in this office over the last two hundred years. “It really is an incredible honor to be here.”
