Shohei Ohtani has quickly managed to win the hearts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, be it the fans, the management, his new teammates and even their wives, as he has demonstrated with reliever Joe Kelly’s partner, Ashley, whom He gave her a great Christmas gift.
In a video posted on the social network to the Dodgers as the team to continue his career, something that seems to have ended up paying off well.
Kelly’s wife began using the hashtag #Ohtake17, with the intention that the current Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the American League would decide on the blue team among the many suitors he had when he entered free agency after terminate his contract with the other team in the city, the Angels.
In the video you can see how the reliever records his wife while she observes, with some disbelief, the car parked outside their house, to which he tells her that it is for her from “Shohei”, to which she excited and goes out to see his unexpected gift.
It should also be remembered that it was Joe Kelly who gave Ohtani number 17, the same one with whom he has played throughout his career, both in Japan and in the Major Leagues, something that the Japanese has shown that he appreciates.
Shohei Ohtani does everything with the Dodgers
Just two weeks after reaching an agreement with the Dodgers for 10 years and $700 million, the 29-year-old hitter/pitcher has begun working with and for his new team, even helping to recruit players like pitchers Tyler Glasnow and more recently his compatriot, Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Likewise, the fact of having deferred $680 million of his contract to collect it after 10 seasons of it, has helped the organization to continue signing players without enormously exceeding MLB’s luxury tax.
