Donald Trump, former president and presidential candidate for the Republican Party, asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris would do a better job running the White House than President Joe Biden.
Initially, when asked by conservative journalist Hugh Hewitt if a vote for Biden would be equal to one for Harris, Trump said: “I think so.” However, he made an ironic comment, which could be interpreted about the age of the current president, saying that he is not sure that Biden will even make it “to the starting gate.”
“It seems like he’s stuck in it for many reasons. He has to choose her. I understand. It would seem that the Democrats, if he does not run for her, will have to run for her,” the former president commented in the radio interview, referring to the current vice president, as reported by The Hill. “That’s what all professionals like you say. “I’m not sure that’s right, but that’s what they say.”
And then he added: “I think she would be better than him, actually. In fact, I believe that.”
Eager to debate with Biden
In the same interview, Trump said he was looking forward to debating President Biden.
“Oh, I look forward to that,” Trump responded. “How about 10 debates?”
However, he criticized the Presidential Debates Commission, which organizes the forums: “they are totally corrupt. They are totally Democratic leaning; it is nice to use the word inclination. They are totally corrupt and terrible. That said, I would do 20 debates even if they were hosted by them. “I would do a debate every night with this guy.”
But, according to the New York magnate, Biden “will never show up” for a debate.
In the same line of debates, the former president referred to his rivals in the Republican Party primaries. So far, Trump has refused to participate in the four Republican debates that have been held to date, arguing that they are not really competitors for him.
In this regard, he stated that he would be willing to participate in a Republican primary debate if the race is reduced to just him and a single rival after the New Hampshire primary.
“Yes, I would, if it was really close, I would debate that Republican,” Trump said. “But he’s not around.”
At the moment, as the former president said, there is no GOP rival that comes close to him. Although Nikki Haley has had better numbers in recent polls, she is still a long way from the New York mogul.
For this reason, Trump stated that he is “not worried” about Haley, who also served as ambassador to the United Nations during his administration.
