One of the best players in the NBA currently is the Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo. Who won the MVP award twice (2019 and 2020), the current Milwaukee Bucks player recently revealed who is one of the athletes he most admires.
Well, when he was asked which athlete he would like to spend the day with. The Bucks center responded emphatically that with the “Goat.” That for Giannis that title belongs to the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
“You have to count on the ‘Goat’, the only Cristiano Ronaldo,” said the 29-year-old basketball player. Who took the opportunity to praise the footballer’s achievements and his admirable work ethic, which makes him one of the best athletes in history.
“Whatever sport I play, I would probably be good at it. He is very competitive, very motivated, being able to play at such a high level at 37-38 years old. He’s very impressive, so I’ll take the Goat,’” Giannis explained.
Giannis’s relationship with football and admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo
In March 2023, Giannis Antetokounmpo joined the ownership group of Nashville SC, an MLS franchise, which reached the final of the Leagues Cup. Which lost to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. However, that day the basketball player was at the stadium and showed his soccer skills during practice and ended up celebrating like Cristiano Ronaldo. Which shows the admiration for the Portuguese.
Giannis grew up in a very soccer-loving family, as his father was a professional player. So he has always had a real interest in this sport. “My father was a professional soccer player, and it was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece,” Giannis said when he was introduced as part of the Nashville franchise’s ownership group.
“I have always had the dream of having a soccer team. When my brothers and I explored the possibility of Nashville SC, we knew it was a team and a city we wanted to get involved in,” completed the 2021 NBA champion.
Giannis’ season
The Greek did not start the current NBA season in a good way. However, as the schedule developed he adjusted his game and is currently averaging 31 points per game, emerging as a candidate for another MVP.
“Coming into the season, I didn’t feel so confident; I couldn’t get my rhythm. But now, in the last two games, I’m getting my rhythm; “My teammates are feeding me and allowing me to be great offensively,” the player recently explained.
