After the recent revelation of the cause of death of actor Matthew Perry, who lost his life due to a high dose of ketamine in his system, a large number of voices have emerged to narrate part of the American’s life.
On this occasion, it was the ex-girlfriend of the “Friends” singer, Kayti Edwards, who revealed to the British media The Sun one of the most desperate episodes that her ex-partner experienced to avoid using drugs.
According to Edwards, the “17 Again” actor was also dealing with extremely deep depression during their relationship in 2006. As a result, Perry consumed a large amount of drugs to try to alleviate the situation he found himself in. The story mentions that Matthew’s former assistant also arrived at Perry’s residence in the Hollywood Hills to try to help him.
However, and given the actor’s desperation to stop using narcotics, he decided to place highly fixative glue on the palm of his hands and “glue” them to his knees.
He had been getting high all night on a large amount of substances, most likely crack cocaine and others. I found him on the couch with his hands glued to his legs. It was desperately sad.
Matthew Perry’s addictions according to Kayti Edwards
After finding Perry in this situation, Edwards decided to use various elements such as nail polish remover and olive oil to free the actor from the painful situation in which he found himself.
I literally had to pull the hair out of his legs to get it off. He was left with red, raw spots. “It was pretty horrible.”
It should be remembered that this is not the first time that Kaity Edwards reveals part of Perry’s addiction to the media. On a previous occasion, the daughter of famous screenwriter Blake Edwards revealed that the “Don’t Look Up” actor used her to get drugs due to her pregnant condition.
I was about five months pregnant and I went to look for things for her. He said ‘no one is going to stop a pregnant girl, don’t worry here.’”
Edwards’ story joins those of many others known and close to the actor, who have mentioned Perry’s difficult process to get rid of these substances. Despite the improvement that he showed in recent years, the actor died on October 2 due to a high dose of ketamine in his system.
According to reports, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion treatment to counteract the depression and anxiety he suffered. However, and according to what was issued by various experts, the actor had become “addicted” to the substance.
