The odyssey of the Detroit Pistons seems to have no end and this Tuesday they claimed the title of worst team in NBA history by establishing a new negative record of 27 consecutive losses after losing against the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 112-118.

The Pistons waited for a Christmas miracle that never came and with morale completely down, they could not avoid writing their name in the book of negative basketball records by surpassing the previous marks of 26 setbacks set by the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2010-2011 and the Philadelphia 76ers from 2013-2014.

But if it seems that this is the lowest that the Detroit team can fall, there is still one step to which they can descend and that is the 28 consecutive defeats that the Philadelphia team signed between the end of the 2014 season- 2015 and the beginning of 2015-2016.

Team fans once again raised their voices at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena with shouts of ‘sell the team’ to the owner of the organization, Tom Gores, and criticism of the players and coach Monty Williams.

The fans’ hopes of breaking the losing streak were pinned on this match against Brooklyn since their next game will be as a visitor against the Boston Celtics, leaders of the Eastern Conference with a record of 23 wins and 6 losses.

But a stronger humiliation could be received at home when they return from Boston and have to receive the Toronto Raptors, against whom they could suffer their 28th consecutive defeat.

It has been almost two months since the Pistons last achieved their last victory, on October 28 of this year when they defeated the Chicago Bulls 118-102. Since then he has had a record of 2 wins and 27 defeats.

This record shows the decline that the Detroit franchise has entered today, being far from being that team that won three NBA championship rings, led by the fierce and fearsome “Bad Boys” of Isiah Thomas between 1989 and 1990.
