The home in New Canaan, Connecticut, where the late host Jack Paar spent part of his life has sold for $2.05 million.
According to ‘Mansion Global’, the sale closed at the end of November for little more than the price at which it entered the real estate market.
Paar, who will always be remembered for being the second host in the history of ‘The Tonight Show’, built this house from scratch in 1973 and in collaboration with the late architect Lawrence Michaels. Its construction was carried out years after the presenter stopped directing the NBC television program, since he was in charge from 1957 to 1962.
He owned the place until 1986, when he sold it to Spiros ‘Sig’ Segalas, co-founder of the investment management firm Jennison Associates.
Segalas owned the place until his death at the beginning of 2023, so his heirs were in charge of selling the place.
This property occupies a 4.54 acre lot and its main house has an area of 6,631 square feet distributed in five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, foyer, living room, main room, game room, dining room, bar, kitchen , laundry room and other amenities.
The agent in charge of its sale describes the property as a space that “is infused with the personality and style of bygone eras.”
From the interior we can mention its high ceilings, wood-burning fireplace, wooden ceilings, large windows and other details. The kitchen has dark wood cabinets and the sale price also includes several appliances such as: stovetop, wall oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and electric dryer.
In addition to the main house there is a garage with capacity for two vehicles and an independent cabin.
Outside there are green areas with a terrace, swimming pool, spa area, tennis court, walkways and other ideal spaces to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
